Desperate Plea for Help

They contacted Stray Rescue of St. Louis, and compassionate rescuers soon joined the scene. Sitting beside the injured dog, they gently stroked her and reassured her with kind words, making her feel safe. The rescue team was deeply moved by her pleading eyes, determined to help her.
Upon examining her, they noticed several cuts and her struggle to move her back legs. Carefully, they lifted the dog and placed her in their vehicle, heading straight to a veterinary clinic where she received urgent medical attention. Thankfully, her injuries, though serious, were not life-threatening.
The Road to Recovery
As the medical team assessed her condition, they discovered a broken hip. The prognosis was positive, with the expectation that she would make a full recovery with time and care. “It is going to take her time to heal with lots of crate rest, but she should be able to make a full recovery in time,” SRSL shared on Facebook.
Comforted by the medical staff, the pup, named Joy Bird, began to feel safe. Her hip surgery was scheduled for the next day, and after a restful night, she faced the procedure with less fear. The surgery was a success, and Joy Bird started her journey to recovery.
Unable to use her back legs initially, her new human friends devised a way for her to enjoy the outdoors. They placed her in a stroller, taking her on walks to let her feel the sunshine on her face. Joy Bird’s happiness was evident; she couldn’t stop smiling.
The rescue team shared her progress on social media, noting her love for the stroller rides and her sweet nature. Thanks to their diligent care, Joy Bird was soon ready to transition to foster care, where she continued to thrive.
