Unexpected Visitor with a Wagging Tail
Kicking off her day at work, Kristin Erwin didn’t anticipate the sight that would greet her. A large dog stood at her office door, his tail gently swaying. She opened the door to find a timid yet friendly Mastiff peering in, his eyes speaking volumes of his need for help and comfort.
Kristin and her colleagues quickly took action, snapping photos and posting them on Lost and Found pages. They hoped to reunite the dog with his home. The very next day, the dog emerged from beneath their work trailers, greeting them with a wagging tail and a welcoming smile.
Despite their efforts, no foster home was found, leaving the dog to spend his days in the property’s big barrels. As the weekend approached, Kristin couldn’t bear leaving him alone, deciding to take him home. The pup’s face lit up with joy at the prospect of a new place to stay.
Upon realizing he was headed home with Kristin, the dog, whom she named Hoss, couldn’t contain his happiness. His gratitude for being rescued was evident in his beaming expression.
Adjusting to a New Life
Entering her home proved challenging for Hoss. The unfamiliar surroundings and tile floors made him hesitant. Kristin, experienced with fostering, knew Hoss needed time to adjust to this new chapter in his life.
Over the course of a week, Hoss began to adapt, thanks in part to Kristin’s other dogs. They helped him learn the ropes of being a house dog. Seeing him slowly emerge from his shell brought her immense joy.
“Our dogs would coax him out into the backyard,” Kristin shared. “Once he hit the grass, he would sprint and play.” These newfound freedoms were joyous firsts in Hoss’ life.
Hoss quickly discovered the comforts of home, finding solace on the couch and later the bed. These small joys were monumental for him, and he cherished every moment.
A Heartfelt Goodbye
After a month with Kristin in Texas, Bullmastiff Rescuers took over Hoss’ care. Although saying goodbye was emotional for Kristin, she was confident that Hoss was on the path to finding a forever home.
His journey continued as he moved to another foster home, and soon enough, an incredible family in New Jersey welcomed him. Hoss began a new chapter filled with love and happiness.
Updates from Hoss’ new parents brought relief to Kristin, confirming the sweet Mastiff had found his joy. Kristin beamed with pride as she learned about Hoss’ protective nature toward his new doggy sister, Sammy.
“He was the lively, goofy, playful one,” Kristin remarked. “In the end, he became the teacher, showing others how to be a dog.”
Living the Dream
Hoss is now living his dream life, enjoying adventures to the lake house and playful days in the snow alongside his sister, Sammy. The once timid dog had transformed into a beacon of joy and companionship.
His story is a testament to the power of love and patience. From fear to happiness, Hoss’ journey has touched the hearts of many, especially Kristin’s.
