Unwavering Hope To His Family Again
Thunder lay steadfast beside the fire hydrant where he was abandoned in summer 2022, his eyes scanning every passerby with hope. Neighbors noticed the loyal dog patiently waiting for his owner’s return, day after day.
After multiple failed attempts to catch him, concerned locals called Suzette Hall, a skilled rescuer and founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California.
Hall arrived with her gear, but Thunder was too frightened to trust anyone. He had lost faith in humans.
Hall’s heart ached watching Thunder dart across busy streets, searching desperately for someone. Inevitably, he would return to his vigil by the hydrant.
Determined Rescue Effort
The thirsty dog eagerly drank the water Hall offered, but remained wary. She set a trap with snacks, hoping to lure him in.
Thunder circled the crate nervously, retreating to his spot repeatedly. Hours turned into night, but Hall was resolute in her mission.
Using hot dogs as bait, she knew the pup couldn’t resist for long. And she was right!
“I drove away to make him think I was gone. When I returned, he was finally in the trap. Hot dogs did the trick,” Hall revealed.
Thunder Has Been Rescued
Hall was relieved to have Thunder safe, but he longed to return to the hydrant, hoping his owner would come back.
“The little bit of love he got from his family, he remembered. I just think he didn’t want to leave in case they came back,” Hall shared.
They narrowly escaped a severe storm after Hall got Thunder into her car. Minutes later, the area was hit hard.
“We named him Thunder because we had the worst thunderstorm after I drove away. It was so scary,” Hall recalled.
Happy Ending
In August 2022, Suzette Hall announced that Thunder was adopted and moved to his forever home on the East Coast.
Thunder was thrilled to embark on his journey and meet his new family, his face beaming with joy.
Upon arriving, a stunning double rainbow marked the start of Thunder’s new life.
The day Thunder embraced his forever parents was his happiest. His family adores him, and he loves boat rides with them.
