Unexpected Discovery
Early one morning, the team at Forsyth County Animal Shelter in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was greeted by an unexpected sight: two puppies waiting outside. These little ones, left in separate kennels, had no identifying information except for a brief, handwritten note.
The staff, although taken aback, quickly sprang into action. They brought the puppies inside and immediately began making them feel at home. The shelter’s team expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for leaving them in a spot where we would be sure to see them right away.”
It was clear that the puppies were in need of care and attention. The note provided scant details, but the dedicated team at FCAS was ready to provide the love and support these animals desperately needed.
The puppies didn’t have to wait long for a warm welcome. The shelter staff quickly assessed their needs and initiated the process to ensure their well-being and safety.
The Mysterious Note
The note left with the puppies was short, offering minimal information. It included their names, approximate ages, breeds, and a bit about their personalities. “Simba – very friendly, Australian Shepherd mix,” it read. “Nala – German Shepherd mix, has worms, unknown birthday, approx. 12 weeks,” the note continued.
Despite the lack of comprehensive information, the FCAS team chose not to judge the circumstances. They stated, “We do not know this person’s story or what is going on in their life and we are not here to pass judgment about their difficult decision.”
The shelter staff showed immense understanding and compassion, assuming that the person who left the puppies had no other choice. They even extended an invitation for the owner to come forward and provide more information.
Unfortunately, no one has yet come forward to claim responsibility for the puppies. However, the shelter is grateful that the puppies were left where they could be easily found and cared for.
In Search of a Forever Home
It has been over three months since Simba and Nala were left at the shelter, and they have yet to find a permanent home. Despite the time that has passed, the shelter is still waiting to hear from anyone who might know more about the puppies.
Currently, Simba and Nala are still considered to be on a stray hold. This means they are not available for adoption just yet, as the shelter wants to give their previous owners a chance to come forward.
Even in their temporary home, both puppies are thriving and doing well. The shelter staff is confident that when the time is right, Simba and Nala will find loving families ready to welcome them.
Until then, the team at FCAS continues to provide them with the best care possible, ensuring they remain happy and healthy as they wait for their forever homes.
