A Feisty Calico Kitten’s Unyielding Spirit
Deep within the confines of an industrial site, a small, spirited kitten emerged, her bold attitude and innate charisma immediately evident. This dilute calico was more than just a kitten; she was a beacon of hope and light amidst the grit and grime.
An independent rescuer found this tiny kitten and realized she needed urgent care, including bottle feeding. With swift action, Gab Cirucci, co-founder of Foster the Furbabies, was contacted and she arranged for the kitten to receive round-the-clock care.
When Gab first met the kitten, she was struck by her fierce spirit. Despite being just four weeks old, she weighed as little as a two-week-old. “She was super feisty,” Gab shared, highlighting the kitten’s intense will to survive.
Named Clara Bow, the kitten arrived with a loud wail but an unexpectedly small appetite. She was underweight and needed all the support she could get to grow and thrive in her new environment.
Nurturing Clara Bow’s Growth
In the early days, Clara showed little interest in eating, causing her foster mom significant worry. “She was also being super finicky,” Gab explained. Slowly and carefully, she syringe-fed Clara the right amount of formula, ensuring she received the nutrition she needed.
Despite her tiny size, Clara’s spirit never wavered. She confidently toddled around on her fluffy blanket, her charm and vitality shining through. Her foster mom knew she had to keep trying different methods to get Clara to eat.
When a new brand of formula finally enticed Clara to eat, it was a moment of immense relief. Her appetite improved, and her foster mom’s hope for her future blossomed. Gab expressed her optimism, saying, “I am very hopeful that she is going to continue to grow big and strong.”
With her newfound appetite, Clara began to gain weight steadily. Her larger-than-life personality started to shine even brighter. “She is going to be trouble with a capital T,” Gab quipped.
Clara’s Bold and Fearless Nature
Clara’s fearless demeanor made her seem much larger than her petite frame suggested. She strutted around with her tail held high, puffing up her fur to appear big and strong. Her keen curiosity kept her observing her surroundings and never missing any action.
Her personality was as big as her spirit. “Clara has a big personality and is extremely sassy for a tiny kitten,” Gab said. Her facial expressions and newfound vocalizations were both entertaining and endearing.
When Clara ventured onto the big couch with her foster mom, she zipped around, asserting her presence and claiming every inch of space. Her adventures were a testament to her growing confidence and playful nature.
“She especially likes to run up to my dogs to play with them,” Gab noted. Clara’s quarantine period would soon end, and Gab eagerly anticipated introducing her to other kittens, knowing she would relish the playful interactions.
A Bright Future for Clara
Clara’s bond with Lucy, the gentle canine resident, was heartwarming. Lucy allowed Clara to climb all over her, play with her ears and tail, and practice her wrestling moves on her big paws. This loving interaction was crucial for Clara’s social development.
Surrounded by love and gentle care, Clara thrived and grew beautifully. At just five weeks old, she began to command the space around her, her lively spirit and irresistible charm lighting up every room.
“She’s slowly becoming the little chunky girl that she should be,” Gab remarked with pride. Clara’s journey from an industrial site to a loving home was nothing short of remarkable.
With her vibrant personality and fearless attitude, Clara Bow is set to continue growing and spreading joy wherever she goes. Her story is a testament to the resilience and spirit of tiny creatures who can light up even the darkest places.

While this story is heartwarming, I do wonder how common it is for kittens like Clara to survive such harsh conditions.
