Eight hours on the road felt like a small price to pay for the Saving Hope Rescue (SHR) team as they journeyed to rescue a dog living in a cardboard box. The image of the helpless pup drove them to action, determined to give this furry soul a warm bed and a chance at a better life.
“We had this sweet girl transported to the DFW area, having just seen a picture of her in a cardboard box,” SHR shared on their social media. Upon arrival, they gently lifted the pup, later named Ridley, into their car and whisked her away to SHR’s clinic. She was showered with love, treats, and countless kisses.
Unfortunate News
At just three months old, Ridley was rescued by SHR’s dedicated team. Despite her cheerful and playful demeanor, a thorough medical examination revealed a troubling condition. Vets discovered a severe heart defect that required immediate attention.
“We discovered she had a serious heart defect. It could only be fixed with a balloon valvuloplasty procedure at Texas A&M,” SHR disclosed. Fortunately, while awaiting surgery approval, Ridley found solace in a caring foster home, where she could decompress and experience the joys of puppyhood.
Her foster family, along with her new siblings, provided her with reassurance and love, helping her navigate her new world. “Ridley is a tiny, playful 3-month-old puppy who loves big dogs and all humans. She’s very smart and quick to learn,” her foster parents wrote, capturing the essence of her spirit.
While SHR worked tirelessly to secure funds for her heart procedure, Ridley thrived in her foster home, learning basic commands and discovering her love for toys. Her resilience and joy reassured everyone that she was a true fighter, destined for a happy life.
